Today is the Day!

Today is the Day!

After months of distractions, I thought  today is the day that I would start blogging. We have a lot of people who read blogs, and so – Today is the Day!

I have been fortunate enough to be pastor of Marathon Church for the past 10 years. In that time, I have seen God do amazing things. We have seen over 2500 salvations. We have purchased 83 acres, built a new worship center and are currently in the process of building an 18,000 sq. ft. Youth Building. WOW, what an awesome God!

The hardest thing I face is to “Keep the Main Thing, the Main Thing” (People). Jesus didn’t die for buildings, but for people. Buildings are necessary, and we have paid over $700,000 cash for the 1st phase of our Youth Building. Our people get that it is about our future … our youth … our kids. It’s more about building people than buildings.  I will keep you posted on the upcomming 2nd phase to finish our youth       building.

Christmas Present

The Christmas Present

My wife and I have recently become Foster Parents. For the past 6 months we have had our little girl, “Faith” in our home.  She is now 3½ years old. We got Faith on Christmas Day.  On that day her brother and two other children celebrated Christmas with us. You have to realize that, at that point, our house was not child-proof. We had breakable Christmas stuff everywhere. As it worked out, nothing got broken.

I didn’t know what I had been missing! Seeing life through the eyes of a child makes you young again.

There are over 5000 children in the SC Foster Care System, but unfortunately there are not enough homes to go around. Many of these children will need to be adopted. Lynn and I are in the “Foster to Adopt” program, so one day Faith will be a Cox. What an awesome change she has made in our lives!
